Paste text without formatting

Sometimes a text and/or accompanying formatting may look different after publication than at the time of typing or pasting. The interaction between different software packages often causes this problem. In this article, we'll explain this further and show you how you can prevent it.

Copy and paste from another source, for example, to or from Microsoft Word

You have probably pasted a piece of text from Word to a website yourself. In some cases, your text may look different than you intended. Maybe your text seems to have disappeared.

Invisible code when pasting text from Word (and other programs)

An invisible code will appear in your message when you paste text directly from Word (or other word processors) into Plek. This code ensures that the formatting of your text is not lost. This can be useful, but sometimes it also leads to conflict. As a result, some sentences in your text are missing, and sometimes your entire text disappears. This problem is easily avoided by pasting your text without preserving the formatting.

On Windows, Paste without formatting works in Chrome and Firefox via the keyboard shortcut Control + Shift + V

On Mac OS, use the keyboard shortcut ⇧ + ⌘ + ⌥ + V

In Chrome (Mac OS) ⇧ + ⌘ + V .

Do you prefer to work with the mouse?

In most browsers, you will also find the option via the Edit menu. From there, look for a function name such as paste and adjust style, paste without formatting, or paste the as simple text.
