Within a chat conversation, you have several options. For example, you can type a message and format the text, possibly with an emoji or gif. You can also tag another person in the chat using the @mention button. In addition, you can add an attachment, such as an image or document.
In a group chat, you can decide whether to add the file directly to the group as a document or whether the file is purely for use within the chat. Furthermore, in a group chat, you can create a message that will also appear on the timeline. Finally, you can create a calendar item for the group directly from the chat in a group chat.
Add an attachment in the chat
To add an attachment in the chat, take the following steps:
1. Click on the plus sign to the left of the field in which you will type a chat message.
2. Then click on Add attachment.
When you add an attachment, a window will open in which the folders on your computer will be displayed.
3. Navigate to the folder where your desired attachment is stored and double-click on the file in question (any kind of file is possible, including a document, image, or video).
Now a screen appears in which you can give your attachment a title. In this screen, you can also decide whether your attachment should be saved as a document within the group or whether you only want to use this attachment in the chat.
4. If this attachment is a file that you and your group members want to keep handy, tick Save attachment as a group document.
5. Then click Upload.
A screen will appear where you can change the settings for this document.
6. Give your document a title and description and fill in any other information related to this document, and then click Save.
You will now see the view of your document with the information you just entered, as other group members can also see it.
9. Click on the cross at the top right.
Your attachment now appears in the chat and is also included in the group as a document. Your attachment can now also be seen under Documents in the right-hand column next to the chat (and here, you will also find the other documents, messages, and events of this group).
Creating a message for both chat and timeline
To create a message that appears in both the group's chat and timeline, follow these steps:
1. Click on the plus sign to the left of the field in which you will type a chat message.
2. Then click on Add message.
A screen will appear on which you can write your message.
3. When you have finished writing your message, click on Create.
You will now see the page for the message you have just created. This message has now been posted both in the chat and on the group timeline. Your message is now also visible under Messages in the right-hand column next to the chat (where you will also find this group's other messages, events and documents).
Creating an event in the chat
To create an event that appears in the group's calendar, take the following steps:
1. Click on the plus sign to the left of the field where you are typing a chat message.
2. Then click on Add event.
A screen appears in which you can create your event.
3. When you're done filling in information about your event, click Create.
You will now see the page of the event you just created. This event is now listed in the group's calendar. Your agenda item can now also be seen under Agenda in the right-hand column next to the chat (and here, you will also find this group's other events, messages, and documents).
