Introduction on measuring success @ Plek

A five step model

Plek created a 5 step data model to measure user engagement, inspired by the ADKAR change management model.  Plek is a social intranet/ community platform, so probably your goals are around

  • Improving internal communication
  • Connecting and engaging employees or members online
  • Enhancing the online employee or member experience

To achieve such goals, a lively platform and engaged users are crucial. Your platform users usually need go trough 5 engagement stages. These are:

  • Awareness, need for internal information/ internal engagement
  • Desire, to be informed/ engaged
  • Knowledge, about internal affairs/ internal engagement
  • Ability, to contribute to internal communication/ internal engagement
  • Reinforcement, to sustain internal information sharing/ engagement

These five steps are translated into data points that can be measured with Plek

Reach

Measures how many accounts can potentially be reached with your information. A user can be reached if the accounts is activated. A not activated account cannot log into the platform and thus not consume information.  Data about reach in our model does not say anything about read/ views. Click the link to learn more about measuring your reach

Visit

Measures the frequency users visit your platform and identifies top users. Click the link to learn more about measuring your visit data

View

Measures how often and what type of content your platform users view. This data feeds your internal content strategy. Click the link to learn more about measuring views.

Contribute

Measures how often user generated content (posts/ documents/ pages) is created. Click the link to learn more about measuring user engagement

Interact

All the data belonging to the 5 steps are available for users with admin and content manager roles. In the links above data is used from our new (beta) statistics module. Some of the data is also still available in the current/ old statistics module. There are no information pages about the old statistics module because it will be phased out soon.
