For large organizations, managing user data on a daily basis can be a time-consuming task. User Provisioning, or user synchronization, is a convenient integration that automates the creation, updating, and deactivation of users in Plek. Instead of manually creating, updating, or deactivating user accounts, User Provisioning ensures that these tasks are performed automatically. By linking Plek to your organization's Active Directory, changes in the Active Directory are immediately reflected in Plek. This is done through a daily automatic synchronization, with the Active Directory serving as the authoritative source of user data.
Please note: User synchronization is not a method for logging in. For information on logging in, please refer to our Single Sign-On page.
Plek supports two standards for user synchronization: System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) and Datamapper.
- System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM)
SCIM is a standard used for managing user identities and access in various systems and applications, particularly in cloud environments. It provides a unified way to synchronize and manage identity information, regardless of the specific systems being used.
- Datamapper
Datamapper is a method for User Provisioning where user information and access rights are managed using a datamapping system. Plek exchanges data using a ClientID and ClientSecret from the client application and retrieves data via an Application Programming Interface (API). This system acts as an intermediary layer between Plek and the organization's application, allowing data to be mapped, transformed, and synchronized. It uses mapping rules to convert data from one format to another.
In this way, data such as names, email addresses, and other attributes can be mapped from your application (for example, an HR database) to Plek. This process can be automated and standardized, making the management of user information and access rights easier.
Please note! User Provisioning based on Datamapper is always tailored. The setup will always take place on a project basis with a kick-off to map your requirements, determine the expected duration, and find out which data the client application works with.
User Provisioning is an additional integration in Plek. For more information about setting up a user synchronisation for your organisaion, please visit our pricing plan for your subscription, contant your account manager or send an e-mail to support@plek.co
